Highlights from Store Event in Austin separates a music led, people lover, community builder from the pack, kudos to the proprietor, Glen Mierendorf

Before the event, Glenn from Sound Sanctuary Austin and Philip O’Hanlon from On a Higher Note sat down to discuss the beauty of analog music and the concept of “Midrange Magic“, emphasizing that music must connect emotionally beyond technical specs.  Glenn was so excited about sharing the experience.

Highlights of the interview with Philip and Glenn :

Glen and Philip introduce new audio gear, including the OTTA (Over The Top Analog) Mandolin cartridge, a brainchild of Philip’s.  They discussed D’agustino amplifiers, and also the benefits of grounding systems and proper room treatment for sound quality.

The conversation covers vinyl record pressings, favoring original UK and US pressings over reissues, and the advantages of 45 RPM records.

Shared insights on how a well-set-up system reveals musical nuances were exchanged and the importance of professional dealer guidance was stressed.

The two gentlemen shared personal stories about vinyl collecting and the emotional impact of music, including classic mono recordings and Frank Sinatra’s work, with their passion for authentic listening experiences played out in the interview up front and center.

Before the Store Event, Glen was sharing his excitement about the gear we sent ahead of time but was even apologetic as “it’s not just music but there will be some gear”.  Watch this: finger pointing down

The room was full.  When I say full, I mean, standing room and people sitting on the floor.  Photos below don’t do it justice but this proprietor has accomplished one thing: the old and young, the male and female, the audiophile and musicphiles, the know-a-lots and the newbies… it really doesn’t matter as the experience of music at our core sows seeds for wants than needs.

The event was energized by the specially curated playlist intended for a diverse crowd with a system set up to move the audience, a something for everyone approach.
Here’s the link to the playlist listed in a 3-part series.

Philip’s Demo at Sound Sanctuary, Austin was diverse by design

We published a 3-part series highlighting 11 albums with curator’s notes for this event.  To say that the event was well-attended it was an understatement.  Beyond standing room, there were people sitting on the ground.  The audience were music lovers (male and female) from a diverse age group and with diverse music tastes.  This playlist was curated to demonstrate Midrange Magic in a well-presented sound system with something for everyone.
