I have been a huge admirer of Annie Lennox since I first bought an album of her’s with the Tourists, way back when. She went on to perform with the Eurythmics and for more than a decade has been a solo performer. Here is a lady with a different perspective & wow has she breathed life into a bunch of tired & broken songs.
I have already listened to this album several times over because the arrangements are interesting, different and INTENSE. Annie Lennox never ceases to fascinate the listener even if she is scaring the pants off you in a few songs. “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen” sounds like she’s storming the ramparts and if you don’t lift a glass to holiday cheer she’s going to kick your ass. Available on LP also.
