On her fourth album Ane Brun, a Norwegian transplanted to Sweden, tried to create a grand orchestral statement. The first ten songs are not easily accessible, and surely nothing you’d like to put on as background music; its a bit of a melancholic journey. “Worship” has been rolling around my head since I hear it on National Public Radio – its one of those sings that you can’t stop listening to.
With “It All Starts With One” she’s only gone and made the best album of her career – and one of the best records of 2011. Deluxe Edition includes a bonus disc with eight additional tracks. Also available from Sweden on LP.
