Prokofiev’s “Scythian Suite” is one of those pieces from the early Twentieth Century that, like Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring”, exploits contemporary fascination with the exotic and the primitive. It is full of jungle rhythms and eerie chord progressions in the strings. This 1957 recording,  captures all the excitement of the score; conductor Antal Dorati’s super-charged readings are unsurpassed, the London Symphony Orchestra is in fine form.

The Marche from the fairy tale “The Love Of Three Oranges” is also a compelling performance  and a captivating sound-portrait.

Truly demonstration quality, it will test your system, pressed as a double LP set, cut at 45 RPM from ORG. Originals in mint condition sell for approx. $1,000.  This LP is a bargain both sonically & musically.
