Gryphon Zena Preamplifier Launch continues at Kyomi Audio in Chicago, IL
December 8, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
KYOMI AUDIO
CHICAGO, IL 60641
Gryphon Audio Designs are proud to demonstrate their new Zena preamplifier in Chicago on Saturday 8 Dec. @ 2:00 and 4:00pm at Kyomi Audio. Your hosts will be Professor George Vatchnadze (a celebrated concert pianist and classical music recording artist, owner of Kyomi Audio) and Philip O’Hanlon (Chief Fun Officer from On A Higher Note) playing a wonderful collection of hand curated music on a Gryphon system.
Among the music featured will be the upcoming releases from George Vatchnadze of Kanchelli’s 33 Piano Miniatures; transcriptions from his Motion Picture Soundtracks, transcribed for the piano by Giya Kanchelli. To be released next year on CD by DECCA. Music lovers have long waited on an audiophile recording of George Vatchnadze’s performance of the Rachmaninov Third Piano Concerto. This is a 2017 live recording from Osaka Symphony Hall with the Japan Century Symphony Orchestra conducted by Norichika Limori. To be released next year by Triton on hybrid SACD and high resolution download files.
Philip O’Hanlon will play comparison tracks from The Beatles 50’th Anniversary White Album, as well as recent releases by Paul Simon, Boz Scaggs & Michael Buble on LP.
The Gryphon Zena is a true dual mono preamplifier harvests the fruit of significant advances made in the evolution of the state of the art Gryphon Mirage. The Zena preamp is based on an exclusive, fully discrete, DC-coupled Class A topology with zero global negative feedback and extended 1 MHz frequency bandwidth, all contributing to high slew rates, extreme transient fidelity and zero treble phase shift for proper focus with fine ambient micro-detail.
The Gryphon Zena replaces the Athena ball-bearing volume wheel with touch-sensitive up/down buttons to create a volume attenuator consisting of 43 individual steps in 2 dB increments, with no more than two resistors in the volume control signal path at any given time.
Among the numerous component upgrades of the Zena is an ultra-precise array of SMD metal-foil resistors and hermetically sealed, gold-plated, ultra-low capacitance Pickering reed relays. Needless to say, the sound quality is exemplary and provides a clear window to the music. But please don’t take our word for it; drop by and listen for yourself.
