SoundStage Recommended Reference Component Vivid B1 DecadeSoundStage! Hi-Fi has declared Vivid’s limited edition B1 Decade a Recommended Reference Component.

“With the B1Ds properly set up — and when the recording allowed — Doug found the Vivids capable of throwing enormous soundstages with pinpoint accuracy of imaging that competed with the best speakers he’s reviewed…”

Schneider wrote an excellent review of Vivid Audio’s limited edition B1 Decade back in March. He admits to having overlooked Vivid Audio’s line of speakers for a number of years, before he stopped to give the original Vivid B1 loudspeakers a listen in 2010. They ended up being his favorite speaker for under $20,000.

For Vivid Audio’s 10th anniversary, they decided to completely remodel the original B1. Doug wrote in his review that the limited edition B1 Decade “represents the pinnacle of what Dickie and Guttentag feel can be achieved in the Oval series.”

SoundStage! Hi-Fi just announced the winners of their annual Products of the Year awards for 2016. and we are proud to say that the Luxman L-550Ax won the Product of the Year for the Integrated Amplifier category. The bonus is that this amplifier also transformed a skeptic into an endorser.

Back in May, SoundStage! Hi-Fi’s Hans Wetzel reviewed the Luxman L-550Ax. Prior to using it, he had been skeptical about the L-550Ax’s power, but agreed to review the amp at editor Doug Schneider’s suggestion: “I told him to just listen to it and then decide.” He ended up awarding the L-550Ax with a Reviewer’s Choice Award.

“Don’t let that 20Wpc power rating fool you—this thing is…a brute with enough muscle and current to fill a room with loud, if not deafening-loud, levels of music.”

“The modestly powered Luxman L-550AX is the best integrated amp available for $5000 or less.

If you’re looking for an integrated amplifier that is in the under $5000 price range, we highly recommend you schedule an audition to hear the L-550Ax.

PFO writer Brian Moura named the 8-channel Merging+NADAC his favorite pick this year because it “offers a clean and very detailed portrayal of the music it is playing.” He also praised Merging Technologies’ for applying their experience in creating professional audio equipment and making that technology available to the home audio market with the Merging+NADAC.

“The clean and detailed sonics are essential for judging a musical performance in the recording studio and presenting it at a…professional venue. It is just as important in the home audio market where NADAC is very likely to receive a warm round of applause and strong sales. Bravo!”

PFO’s David Robinson also wrote a very thorough review of the 8-channel Merging+NADAC back in August.

Positive Feedback awards MERGING+NADAC Brutus Award for 2015. Merging Technologies’ Hapi received the same award in 2014. We want to thank Dr. David Robinson for the award and for his great encouragement to the Merging Technologies team. He was the first person to install the MERGING+NADAC in his listening room and has the longest experience of the product leading up to the outstanding review he published on the PFO site. “What the L-550AX possessed was an incredibly lifelike, holographic, reach-out-and-touch-it three-dimensionality…

“What set the L-550AX’s sound apart from the crowd was its presence — a natural, thoroughly organic sound that was most notable in the midrange, and made my Hegel H300 sound mechanical by comparison.

“Once again, the Luxman was able to render the entire recording with such dimensional color and palpable weight that I struggled to find something worthwhile to write about. I was too interested in cueing up another tune. If that’s not an emphatic endorsement, I don’t know what is.”

” … I can imagine to spend the rest of my life with (Luxman M-900u / C-900u) …

The bass of the M-900u is deep enough for any recording and it has enough weight not to cause proportional misbalance in frequency spectrum. It digs deep to the basement yet the sound does not stay confined underground and swiftly gets back to daylight if music calls for it.

My summary could be pretty straightforward: the anniversary Luxman M-900u / C-900u combo is a fantastic piece of audio that signifies a new era for the company. I can say aloud that both amps are first affordable amps, however relative is this term … Actually, I am considering to replace my all Accuphase set up with them. Cannot be more enthusiastic.”
