Where can I download the Luxman audio player for Windows or Mac?

Where can I download the Luxman audio player for Windows or Mac?

To playback file sound sources by PC or Mac, like lossless compression type FLAC files that are common in online music distribution and DSD format files that are becoming popular these days, it is necessary to install a corresponding playback software. Especially, to play back DSD files, sometimes it requires complexed settings and thus it is making it difficult for people who want to listen to high quality music without any difficulties. LUXMAN developed its original high sound quality playback software ”LUXMAN Audio Player” for its products exclusively. All you need is install the software from the link below or a CD supplied with the product and you will be able to start using it immediately. Corresponding file formats are FLAC/WAV/MP3, DSF/DSDIFF (From ver1.2, ALAC and AIFF became compatible.). You can listen to most of the formats used in major music distributing sites. The interface is simple, and it can be used with both Windows and Mac.
※DA-200 and DA-100 are not compatible with DSD files.
※DA-250 does not come with a software CD.
This Audio Player software can be only used with D-08u/D-06u/D-05u/DA-06/DA-250/DA-200/DA-100. When the other units are connected, it does not operate properly.

How to connect Luxman MQ-300 as a mono block

Is it possible to connect the Luxman MQ-300 as a mono block?

As a mono block, the MQ-300 now has twice the output, which is utterly beguiling. See diagram above to learn how it's done.

How do Luxman’s D-05, D-06u, D-08u and the new D-05u compare?

Does the amp still function if tubes for the phono stage are removed for those that only play CDs?

Does the amp still function if tubes for the phono stage are removed for those that only play CDs?

Even if you don't use the phono stage, it is recommended that you don't remove the phono stage. Removing it could result in shortening the product's life. Removing the phono changes the voltages of the other stages.

What is the difference between Luxman’s L-507u and L-507uX?

What is the difference between Luxman's L-507u and L-507uX?

Tonally both amplifiers are voiced the same by Hashimoto-san at Luxman, Yokohama. It is a noticeable improvement over its predecessor, both sonically and in use.

Sonically

The L-507uX has a sweeter, more liquid mid-range and a more three dimensional soundstage is thrown. It is more refined, more detailed and even nicer to use than before.

Features

Both amps have most of the same features:

• The L-507uX has a discrete volume control based on the C-1000f preamplifier design – no moving parts, no tracking issues at low volume. Much more transparent sounding and will not sound the same at every level. This is the most important of all the upgrades and the most expensive to implement, as the individual resistors need to be measured by hand.

• The L-507uX has MONO, SUBSONIC (Rumble) & LOUDNESS Filter switches on the remote control, Loudness is a wonderful feature for late night, quiet listening. It also has a few buttons that support the D-05/06/08 CD SACD players basic functions.

• The L-507uX has a SEPARATE switch for splitting the preamp section from the amp section, for example the inclusion of a Home Theater Processor, where you use the amp in the L-507uX to drive the front L+R speakrs, but control the volume from the HT Processor.

• The L-507uX has a newly redesigned phono stage, which is both more refined & musical.

• The L-507uX has ODNF 3.0 performs three passes of the audio signal, checking for noise & distortion, while the ODNF 2.1 in the L-507U does two passes.

Chassis

There are only a few differences between the two amps.

• Both the L-507uX and the L-507u come with a metal remote control.

• The volume control and the selector knobs have a more tactile feel to them.

• The L-507uX has the speaker terminals spread out horizontally to allow easy access for large cable.

• The L-507uX no longer has the Line Phase Sensor – it does not comply with CE regulations..

• The L-507uX now has LINE STRAIGHT (engage / disengage the tone controls) & SEPARATE available on the remote control. There is no excuse for not using the tone controls, especially when they can be engaged / disengaged from the comfort of the listening chair.

Luxman L-505uX versus L-550Ax

I'm interested in purchasing an integrated amplifier. What are the key differences between the Luxman L-505uX and the Luxman L-550Ax?

Tonally both amplifiers are voiced the same.

Electrically

The major difference between the two amps is that one runs in Class A and the other Class AB. The Class A amp runs hotter than Class AB, though not as hot as a similarly powered vacuum tube amp.

Sonically

The Class A amp (L-550Ax) has a sweeter, more liquid mid-range and a more three dimensional soundstage is thrown; better suited to more neutral, resolving speakers.. While the Class AB amp (L-505uX) has slightly better defined & more articulate bass and is a little more dynamic; better suited to darker sounding speakers. In reality there is not a lot of differences between the two power output wise—the L-505uX is slightly more powerful, but not dramatically so; we are talking about a 1dB difference.

Features

Both amps have the same features:

  • Both have almost the same internal build quality.
  • The L-550Ax & the L-505uX have MONO, SUBSONIC & LOUDNESS Filter switch on the remote control. Though the L-550uX does not actually have the MONO feature. Loudness is a wonderful feature for late night, quiet listening. It also has a few buttons that support the D-05/06/08 CD SACD players basic functions.
  • The L-550Ax & the L-505uX have a SEPARATE switch for splitting the preamp section from the amp section, for example the inclusion of a Home Theater Processor, where you use the amp in the L-505uX to drive the front L + R speakers, but control the volume from the HT Processor.
  • The L-550Ax & the L-505uX both have one balanced input.
  • The L-550Ax & the L-505uX both have a newly redesigned phono stage.
  • The L-550Ax & the L-505uX have a discrete volume control based on the C-1000f preamplifier – no moving parts, no tracking issues at low volume. Much more transparent sounding.
  • The L-550Ax & the L-505uX have ODNF 3.0 performs three passes of the audio signal, checking for noise & distortion, while the ODNF 2.1 in the older L-505u does two passes.

Chassis

There are only a few differences between the two amps:

  • The L-550Ax has a beveled Lucite cover in front of the meters; the L-505uX has a simple plastic recessed cover over the meters.
  • The L-550Ax has yellow meters; the L-505u has blue meters.
  • The L-550Ax does run considerably warmer than the L-505u, if heat is a consideration then the L-505u would be a better choice, such as an amplifier stored in a closed cabinet.

The final decision should probably take into consideration which speakers you are using, the acoustics of your listening room and what kind of music you are going to listen to.

Luxman L-505uX versus L-507uX

I'm interested in purchasing an integrated amplifier. What are the key differences between the Luxman L-505uX and the Luxman L-507uX?

Both amplifiers come with a remote control. The principal difference between the two amps is in the refinement. The difference in sound quality between the two is dramatic and is heard in tonal color, texture, depth and width of sound stage. The L-507uX's refinement is not subtle, considerably more resolute & delivers much more tonal color and dynamics than the L-505uX.

The L-507uX uses a more powerful power supply than the L-505uX with the ability to drive lower impedance loads. You will find that the power output difference into 8 ohms is inconsequential. However, into 4 ohms, the L-507uX is considerably more stable and powerful into low impedance loads.

From a value standpoint, while the L-505uX is clearly the better value from a dollar standpoint, the L-507uX is dramatically better sounding and truly delivers high-end separate performance. The L-507uX uses higher quality parts internally, nicer casework and as a result is over 4 lbs heavier.

One of the main differences is in the transformers:

  • First off, it is safe to say that the Japanese build some of the best transformers and Luxman has been designing/winding transformers since 1925 and has a very good handle on these devices.
  • The El transformers in the L-507uX are more expensive to produce than the Toroidals in the L-505uX. They are also more time-consuming to make because of bobbins and the need to optimize winding space. Toroidals weigh about half of what El transformers weigh for the same VA rating.
  • Since Toroidals have extremely good high frequency response, they may let more line noise through. They often have a high in-rush current (can be hard on power switches) and they can be disturbed by the tiniest bit of DC on the power lines.

Luxman L-550AX versus Luxman L-590AX

I'm interested in purchasing an integrated amplifier. What are the key differences between the Luxman L-550AX and the Luxman L-590AX?

The L-590AX is a fully balanced design, while the L-550AX is a single-ended design. Balanced is normally quieter.

  • The L-590AX has two balanced inputs instead of one in the L-550AX.
  • The L-590AX has a slightly nicer chassis than the L-550AX, but the money has gone into the actual electronics, not a prettier box. Its almost 10 lbs heavier as a result.
  • Output power is increased by 50% and is sufficient to drive Vivid Audio GIYA G3, Wilson Sasha or Alexia.
  • Sonically the L-590AX is dramatically more refined than the L-550AX form the point of view of tonal color, texture. The L-590AX is quieter, more dynamic & more resolute. The soundstage is wider, deeper and more three-dimensional.

During casual conversation with dealers, many have offered up, unsolicited, that if they left the industry, they would buy an L-590AX for themselves and not bother upgrading going forward.

The L590AX is truly High End at an affordable price.

What are the differences between the Luxman L-590AX and the new Luxman L-590AXII?

What are the differences between the Luxman L-590AX and the new Luxman L-590AXII?

Differences between Luxman L-590AX and L-590AXII
TECHNICAL ELEMENT L-590AX L-590AXⅡ FEATURES, IMPROVEMENTS
LECUA 88 steps 88 steps The construction of LECUA itself is the same, but an FET buffer before LECUA was replaced by a transistor buffer. Therefore S/N is improved and so is the distortion.
ODNF 3.0A 4.0 Distortion characteristic of the high range is improved. The expression is clearer.
POWER 10000μF×4 (LR common) 10000μF×8 (LR independent) The first capacitors have been doubled (4 → 8) and LR becomes independent. Thus the intereference between L and R is decreased and separation is improved. The same construction as M-700u.
TRANSFORMER EI type 640VA EI type 640VA thicker primary winding Regulation is improved and more powerful expressive power for the low range is realized. The voltage on the power transistor is higher and the power consumption is a little higher.
PRE OUTPUT Operational amp Operationalamp

+Discrete buffer amp

Output impedance is decreased and the driving force of preamp is improved. Thus more speedy low range is possible and the sound rise is faster.
ORIGINAL CONDENSER PPSD,PPSO Improved version of PPSD, PPSO Property variation by the temperature shift is rare and the durability is high. Newly added the vibration protections decreased the sound chokes. The capacity of the condenser is optimized. The supplier was changed.
DUMPING FACTOR 240 320 This increase is not due to negative feed back. The impedance of the signal path is decreased. (The inside wiring of the main part is 260% thicker.)
METER Reaction speed a little slow Reaction speed increased Design around the meter is changed.
LEG Silver Black Same material and gradation cast iron.
SOUND QUALITY The performance stage wider and bigger scale-feeling. Increased feel of tranquility and the sounding and the afterglow are more vivid. The low range has more strength and energy. LUXMAN's integrated amplifier's flagship. We put into know-hows that we acquired from separate amplifiers' development. Being a pure A-class amplifier, we did not put so much emphasis to make it sound like "A-class," the expressive power with high density is alive.

Is the one balanced input on my L-550AX is a true balanced input circuit or simply a balanced jack?

Is the one balanced input on my L-550AX is a true balanced input circuit or simply a balanced jack? Wondering if it is better to run single ended or the balanced jack as my source is the Bricasti M1 which can be run fully balanced or single ended.

The L-550AX is not fully balanced, so the balanced input has a balancing transformer. For the best sound quality, you are probably better off using the single ended inputs. Unless you have an input far away from the amplifier.

Replacing the Tubes on the Luxman SQ-N10

You told me, if you change tubes on the SQ-N10 sound quality would improve a lot. Just to be sure, would you please let me know which tube(s) should be changed and which tubes you recommend as replacement? I think it was Telefunken, but I´m not sure.

As regards the SQ-N10; if you find a well balanced Telefunnken ECC83 in great condition at a reasonable price - first choice. If you have to buy modern, then consider the Genelex - "Gold Lion”. The ECC83 is the single tube in the middle in the front row.

I bought a complete set of the Genelex “Gold Lion” for the Luxman EQ-500, which is due to arrive in California, tomorrow Thursday. I hope this is of help; will definitely bring this fine amplifier into another league; more refined tonal colour / density. Can help it sound as if it were twice the Euros.

Hard reset for Luxman L-550AX

My L-550AX will not turn ON and will not come out of stand-by mode. Please advise on any simple repairs.

Please try memory reset as follows.

1. Power off

2. Press the operation switch for over 5 seconds and while keeping pressing, please press line straight switch once.

3. No.2 operation will turn the unit off.

The memory reset is done.

(Details in the owner's manual in the Docs tab of the L-550AX product page.)

Try the above and still the unit does not turn on, the protection circuit is in operation. Please check the heat, over DC and DC drift.

I heard you have to wait 45 minutes for tube amps to warm up before they can play. Is this true?

I am interested in the Luxman SQ-N10 tube amp and the matching CD player. However, I have been told that you have to wait about 45 minutes for tube amps to warm up before you can play them. Is this true?

The tube amp takes one minute to power up and you can listen to music then. It will take an additional twenty minutes to fully stabilize & reach its optimum sound performance.

Is it normal for the LED to be off during operation of the SQ-N10?

On the SQ-N100 the volume control had a LED inside the volume control that always showed you where the volume was set. With the SQ-N10 when the unit is powering up, the LED blinks and then shuts off when the unit is powered up. The LED also blinks when you hit mute. Is the LED supposed to be on / illuminated in normal operation?

It is MUTE operation at the first 30 seconds when the unit is powering up, during MUTE operation, LED blinks. After 30 seconds, LED shuts off and the unit works normal. So in MUTE operation the LED blinks, while in normal operation LED shuts off.

Are the pre outs on the Luxman L-505uX always hot or do they only turn on when the separate function is engaged?

Are the pre outs on the L-505uX always hot or do they only turn on when the separate function is engaged? The reason I’m asking is I have a prospective client who is interested in the L-505uX and wants to use his subwoofer with it. If the output is not always active, I assume I can split the signal with a Y adapter and send the signal to both the sub and the main in.

The PRE out is always hot.
